About Rat King

The throne grows restless - Rat King has just received a dense, dynamic update packed with balance changes, bug fixes, and clever new content that deepens the dungeon's menace. Here's everything sharpened in the newest patch:
A Crown for the Clever
A mysterious new crown item has entered the game - but don’t bother checking the shop. This relic won’t sell itself. Players will need to decipher how to unlock it, adding a layer of mystery for the most devoted scavengers.
Shops Stock Smarter
You can now snag heart pickups in shops, a welcome boon for players crawling through tight boss fights. Meanwhile, if you’ve already collected the map item, shops will stop offering it - because redundant wares are for rodents, not royalty.
Enemies Evolve, Strategies Shift
Two rare enemy variants now roam the maze, altering encounters in unpredictable ways. Enemy portal behavior has also changed: pickups no longer drop after the 5th portal spawn, including global spawns, making late-game survival more about skill than farming.
Balance Tweaks: No More Score Shenanigans
To counter infinite score farming, new safeguards were implemented. Additionally, item use costs now increase after the 10th use per room or 50th use per floor, with a critical fix ensuring costs reset properly after floor 5.
Leaderboard Upgrade
The leaderboard now features a handy toggle between floor cleared and score earned, giving players more ways to compare their dungeon dives.
Bug Squashing and Control Smoothing
A wide batch of visual and functional bugs have been squashed - from layering issues around shop stands and walls to pricing bugs at high levels. Controller deadzones were raised for smoother input, and portals now behave more logically: they won’t spawn on flames or while time is frozen.
