About Smush
Smush takes the familiar pleasure of finding words and adds a resource-management puzzle that makes every choice matter. Created by Hank Green, the game gives you a fresh 3×3 letter grid each day, but there is a catch: most letters can only be used a limited number of times.
The Golden Letter Is Key
The center tile is the heart of every Smush board. It is gold, has unlimited uses, and must appear in every word you submit. The other eight letters begin with five dots each, showing how many uses remain. You can repeat letters within a word, but careless choices can quickly leave useful tiles empty.
After building a word, submit it with "Smush" and watch your score grow. One randomly selected spicy letter moves around the board after every word. Including it in your next discovery doubles that word's points, giving you another reason to pay attention to the changing grid.
Make Every Letter Count
There is also a clever reward for using up a letter completely. Spending its final available use "smushes" that letter and doubles the score of that word. Planning around these opportunities can turn an ordinary answer into a valuable one.
Then there is the daily pangram. Somewhere on the board is at least one word containing every letter available. Finding it earns bonus points, with an even bigger reward if you uncover it as your opening word.
With its carefully managed dictionary, limited letter supply, moving bonuses, and hidden pangrams, Smush turns a small word grid into a surprisingly deep daily challenge.
