About Gartic Phone
The Party Game Built on Misunderstandings
Some multiplayer games test your aim. Others test your strategy. Gartic Phone tests whether your friends can draw a horse without accidentally turning it into a toaster.
This free browser game mixes the classic Telephone game with quick sketching. Every player writes a prompt, another player draws it, and someone else tries to guess what the drawing means. By the time the chain reaches its end, the original idea is usually unrecognizable.
Getting Everyone Together
One of the best things about Gartic Phone is how easy it is to start. Nobody needs to install anything or create an account. The host simply opens the website, creates a room, and shares the link.
Most groups play while talking on Discord or a video call. Half of the fun comes from hearing everyone laugh when a terrible drawing appears on screen.
From Simple Prompt to Complete Chaos
A typical round begins with players writing random sentences. Maybe it's "a penguin delivering pizza" or "a wizard stuck in traffic." Those prompts are shuffled and sent to other players to draw.
Once the drawings are finished, they move to another player, who must guess what they are looking at. The process continues until the chain is complete.
The results are rarely accurate. A pirate can become a firefighter. A dragon can become a chicken. Nobody knows where things went wrong, but everyone enjoys watching it happen.
The Reveal Is the Best Part
Unlike competitive party games, Gartic Phone doesn't really care about winners. The highlight comes at the end when the group reviews each album from start to finish.
Watching a perfectly reasonable idea slowly collapse through bad drawings and questionable guesses creates the kind of laughter that keeps people saying, "Let's do one more round."
More Than One Way to Play
While Normal Mode remains the favorite for many groups, the game includes plenty of alternatives. Speedrun creates frantic scribble sessions, Animate lets players build short looping cartoons together, and Complement turns every drawing into a collaborative artwork.
No matter which mode you choose, Gartic Phone excels at creating memorable moments. The worse the drawings are, the better the stories become.
